Mothers Day May 13th

MOTHERS DAY May 13th
Mother’s Day is a festival derived from the custom of mother worship in ancient Greece. Formal mother worship, with ceremonies to Cybele, or Rhea, the Great Mother of the Gods, were performed on the Ides of March throughout Asia Minor. With the coming of Christianity, this developed into worship of “Mother Church,” the celebration occurring on mid-Lent Sunday, when children returned home with gifts for parents, especially the mother.

In the United States, the thought of “Mother’s Day” originated with Anna M. Jarvis (1864-1948) of Philadelphia. The idea came to her when she was asked by the superintendent of the Sunday School in the Virginia town, in which her deceased mother had long been the moving spirit, to arrange a memorial service. There is a Jewish saying that, “God could not be everywhere and therefore he made mothers.
”Abraham Lincoln said, “All that I am, or hope to be, I owe to my angel mother

Urgent Calling to protect our safty

We will be having a meeting on May 8th 2007 at 6 P.M. EST  to address certain issues that have long needed resolution. We will be inviting elected officials such as our city councilman and state senator to address any issues that may need resolution. One that stands in my mind is the use of Spencer and Sawyer Avenues along with White Hall terrace as shortcuts to avoided lights and traffic on the main streets. I believe we need to be proactive instead of reactive when serous injury occurs or loss of life this creates a Dangerous situation to our peace and safety. Other issues include crime prevention and we also need volunteers to help Make our civic association strong and maintain property Values in our community. Please attend and share your Ideas. We all need to work together and protect our interests.
